I’ve heard that before but never seemed like the way to go. That’s why my bet is in a real professional editor. It’s not perfect but it works.

I believe that we are both looking at this from a slightly different perspective.

It seems like you are talking about hiring for big and mid-size companies. And in this case, as a designer, you need all the bells and whistles, in order to pass a structured vetting process.

For Upwork, I don’t know much about it.
I’m working prematurely with founders of early-stage startups. And often founders don’t have much experience hiring people like me. So the process it’s much more organic often in one or more conversations. Sometimes they don’t even ask for a portfolio. It’s more about independent problem-solving and cultural fit.
